Position: Finance Manager
Status: Exempt; Full-Time
Organization: Promise, Inc.
Position Purpose: Responsible for administering the timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and reports for all Promise entities.
Reports To: CFO/COO
Supervises: Does not have direct reports
•To provide a much-needed housing option for adults with special needs that includes vocational training, employment, health, wellness and fitness, as well as develop public/private partnerships that will help minimize the need for state funding.
•Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments and foster an environment of teamwork and collegiality with coworkers, Promise residents and volunteers.
•Accurately enter accounting transactions in accounting software for all Promise entities, including deposits and expenses.
•Maintain schedule of monthly bills and invoices due and process payment for invoices.
•Ensure cash handling procedures are followed.
File and maintain posted expenses, donations, and deposits by month and entity.
•Maintain employee payroll records in accounting software.
•Ensure copy of vendor W-9 forms received.
•Maintain current file of all vendor W-9 forms and necessary Certificates of Insurance.
•Ensure all required Federal and State reports are filed accurately and timely.
•Generate and/or update monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
•Track grant money expenses; assist with grant reports as needed.
•Apprise manager of any issues, and provide follow-up and research as needed.
•Reconcile all bank statements at the end of the month.
•Make monthly sales tax payments to the state.
•Meet with new hires and complete paperwork.
•Ensure all support for audits and taxes are prepared and accurate.
•Research any necessary accounting principles and stay current with new relevant accounting requirements.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
•2 + years of practical accounting and/or bookkeeping experience.
•2 + years experience in a data entry/clerical role.
•Experience with accounting software.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
•Human Resource experience a plus.
•Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to follow-through on issues.
•Strong communication and customer service skills.
•Nonprofit experience preferred.
